Hello, world!

In the coming posts I’ll be following my stabs at learning to program via Ruby on Rails. Full disclosure: I’m a novice, but I really shouldn’t be. I took a couple programming courses several years ago, but left in great disgust by the end of the second one. I’m no supergenius, but I’m no idiot either. There are many ways to teach programming, I’m sure, but there are many ways not to, and I stumbled across one of them. I’d be damned if I was going to pay to tuition, so off I went in a huff, and promptly forgot everything I knew (a fat lot). So for all intents and purposes, I’m a rank beginner. Bear with me when I pat myself on the back for discovering something blindingly obvious, when I’m completely missing the point, and when I’m doing things the long, hard way. With any luck, that’ll taper off before too long. I’m not taking any classes this time, but I do have the very patient advice of the lovely and talented Alan Gutierrez at my disposal while I start my fumbling around.

It was so great to meet you on Saturday. Also good to see that you’re begrudgingly entering the blogosphere, too.

I hope I get to see you again soon.
